About StakesBook

The online casino review industry has a transparency problem. Most comparison sites earn the same commission regardless of which casino you choose — which means their rankings reflect deal terms, not quality. StakesBook was built to solve this. Our review methodology is published in full, our affiliate relationships are disclosed on every page, and our editorial team operates independently of our commercial partnerships.

We evaluate every casino across eight weighted categories: licensing and player protection, bonus fairness, game selection, payment processing, customer support, mobile experience, responsible gambling tools, and overall user experience. Commission rates are not a factor.

Bonuses are the most misleading element in casino marketing. A headline “£500 bonus” with a 60× wagering requirement on the combined deposit and bonus is effectively impossible for the average player to clear. We calculate the Expected Value (EV) of every bonus we review and flag anything that fails our fairness threshold. Our bonus comparison pages display wagering requirements, eligible games, maximum bet rules, and expiry dates upfront — not buried in footnotes.

Not all gambling licences offer the same level of player protection. A UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) licence comes with mandatory player segregation of funds, mandatory self-exclusion scheme participation via GamStop, and dispute resolution through an approved ADR provider. An offshore licence from a jurisdiction with no meaningful regulatory oversight provides essentially none of these protections. We only recommend casinos licensed by authorities we assess as offering genuine player protection — a list that currently covers 12 regulators including the UKGC, Malta Gaming Authority, Gibraltar Regulatory Authority, Danish Gambling Authority, and Swedish Gambling Authority.

StakesBook only recommends operators that provide a full suite of responsible gambling tools — deposit limits, loss limits, session time limits, reality checks, and self-exclusion. We will not maintain affiliate relationships with casinos that do not meet this standard. Every review we publish links to our responsible gambling resources, and we include the GamCare (0808 8020 133) helpline and BeGambleAware on every page. Gambling should always be entertainment. If it stops being that, please seek help.
